Pepperlane Round-Up: Top Social Media Time-Saver Apps

There’s no doubt you have a lot on your plate. Between being a busy mom and running a business, there are honestly no extra hours in the day.

When we talk to our members about the things that take up the most time, or the areas where they could use the most help, social media is always at the top of the list. And we get itthere are a lot of reasons that social media can take up our time and feel like it is taking away valuable resources.

Maybe you are feeling stuck with a lack of content ideas and inspiration?

Or you’re second guessing the quality of your pictures or writing?

Or maybe you find yourself getting sucked into scrolling, and then run out of time to post?

If these resonate with you, know that you are not alone. And at Pepperlane, we are committed to helping you overcome the obstacles that keep you from the work you love. So, we've done the research and asked other business owners in our community which social media apps are actual time savers. Now you don’t need to spend all that time trying out different apps and researching the newest tool because we’ve done it for you.

Here’s our round-up of the top social media apps to help you save time (and sanity):

  1. Scheduling tools- Finding the right scheduler for your business can revolutionize your efficiency on social media. It allows you to get all your content organized in one place AND provides you with valuable analytics to help you learn what content is resonating with your target audience.

Buffer- While Buffer doesn’t have a free version, you can get a 14-day trial to check it out. Buffer will link up to your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn for a fully integrated social media scheduling tool. They offer various products including more elaborate analytics tracking and the ability to respond to social conversations from a shared team inbox. The features with Buffer are likely more than you need to start, but as your business (and potentially team) grows, it has increased utility.

Later- If one of your primary social media channels is Instagram, then Later is a fantastic tool for you to use. The free version allows you to connect Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram (as long as it is one account per channel). You’ll also get some light analytics, which helps you develop content over time. You are limited to 30 posts per month, which may be an issue if you plan to post more frequently.

Hootsuite- Hootsuite offers a 30-day free trial for their plans, but does not offer a free base plan. This system allows you to link Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, and LinkedIn, making it the most comprehensive system that we’ve included here. If you are a data nerd, you’ll love Hootsuite. They offer an in-depth analytics and data system that will help you see how your content is performing, and help you identify ways to increase engagement and brand awareness.

Tailwind- Tailwind was recommended by several community members and has gained popularity with business owners who work primarily with Instagram and Pinterest. You can check it out through their free trial, but they don't offer a free base version of their services. The system provides scheduling support for both Instagram and Pinterest posts, analytics, and more.

  2. Creative tools- You don’t need a graphic design degree to create beautiful social media content! There are a number of user-friendly tools that will help you edit videos, create graphics, and tweak photos so that you never have to hunt around for someone else’s visual again.

Canva- What can we say, we (and a number of our members) are big fans of Canva. Canva’s system is incredibly user-friendly for small business owners. You can upload your own photos, create a set of brand colors, and build a number of different templates for social media and other marketing uses.

InShot- InShot is a top rated video editing app that will help you create crisp and high-quality videos for social media. Since video is the future of social media (so says Mr. Zuckerberg himself), having an easy way to edit and create video content is key for small business owners.

Line Break Generator for Instagram- You may be wondering how on earth this made this list, but until you’ve spent a painstaking amount of time trying to create line breaks on an Instagram post only for it to be all jumbled when it goes live, you won’t understand the value here. This is guaranteed to give your posts good line breaks (with no asterisksjust copy and paste!). You’re welcome 😉

Zubtitle- If you've ever wished that there was a system to easily add subtitles to your videos, then you need to check out Zubtitle. You can pilot the system with a free video and then see what plan might work best for you depending on how often you put out content. With content moving toward videos, subtitle systems are increasingly valuable. Zubtitle is user-friendly and creates a high-quality product that will make your videos stand out from the crowd.

  3. Content planning tool- Have you ever been staring at your screen trying to think of something to post? Us too. That’s why we created a special tool just for Pepperlane members that will provide sample content and spur ideas for daily posts, with your custom landing pages and images. This tool is specifically designed to help members know what they need to post, have a guide on how to do it, and is optimized to promote their online marketplace profile.

At Pepperlane, we're all about making the most of every dollar and minute you spend on your business. Sifting through social media tools is not only overwhelming, it's a huge time suck (the opposite of what you're trying to do for your business!).
