In our new 1:1 series, we talk to women who are full members in our Pepperlane community about their business and how they use Pepperlane to learn, grow and solve business challenges.
Tell us about your business
I am a functional health coach, helping midlife women release stubborn weight, revive essential hormones and resolve persistent gut issues. I use lab testing, with kits my clients can do in the privacy of their own home, to give us the data on what is happening in their body. Then I prepare a customized health protocol based on exactly what their body needs for support in order to start healing.
Have you always owned this business or what made you decide to start it?
I worked for almost 20 years to the day, for a music publishing company doing the bookkeeping and copyright licensing. When the company was sold in 2015, I decided to put away the calculator and truly follow my passion, which was health and wellness. I had already attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2013 and become a certified holistic health coach. I wanted my own business so that I could serve clients, but maintain a flexible schedule so that I could be home with my kids. It has not been an easy road as an entrepreneur, but it certainly has been rewarding. Through lots of ups and downs, I have finally landed on a personalized way to help my clients, with a process that gets results, and my dream business.
My new favorite is the speed networking! I met so many super nice people in such a short amount of time. I also really like the boosts. I like that they are a small group and that you get 5 minutes to have everyone mastermind ideas on your issue.
We like to say that everyone has a journey to Pepperlane. How do you use Pepperlane as a female entrepreneur balancing business with motherhood?
I have really enjoyed being a part of the Pepperlane community. The boosts are so fun and I learn so much from everyone's questions and suggestions. I have used the services of several Pepperlane members and am always glad to support another female entrepreneur. My boys are now 18 and 21 and self sufficient, well, pretty much lol, so I'm able to focus more on my business now than I have in past years.
What do you struggle with?
When my kids were smaller, it seemed like no matter what, something was always getting in the way of building my business. For example, I'd have a day full of client appointments and my son would at the last minute, be home sick from school, or the school would suddenly call 5 minutes before a session. I always felt like I was getting derailed. Though I don't deal too much with that now, I hear from Pepperlane moms who are dealing with the same things and it is confirming that we all struggle sometimes. I always feel re-inspired after a boost to keep going, life happens!
How can someone best work with you and what is your core product offering?
My core offering is a 3 month program which includes 5 foundational labs that look at hormone levels, gut health and food sensitivities. Clients are typically coming to me with low energy, low libido, brain fog, an upset belly, bloating, diarrhea/constipation and no motivation to exercise, or some combination of these. With the results from the tests, I put together a customized protocol, mostly based on diet and lifestyle recommendations, and sometimes extra supplementation, to best support their body and what it needs, so they can start feeling like themselves again.
Where can clients learn more about you or purchase a package?
I recommend that all clients book a free Health Strategy Call with me as a first step, so that we can discuss what's going on and see if we are a good fit.
What's your favorite feature of Pepperlane Membership?
My new favorite is the speed networking! I met so many super nice people in such a short amount of time. I also really like the boosts. I like that they are a small group and that you get 5 minutes to have everyone mastermind ideas on your issue. I learn so much with the input on my own question as well as from hearing what others are asking. There is power in a group setting, so often, you get new views and perspectives.
