We all know we need social media to grow our businesses, right? But it can seem so daunting!
Since we’re all CEOs in our own right, why not learn to leverage social media like some of the top executives in the market? While many CEOs view social media as a distraction and prefer to lead from behind closed doors, the smartest ones use social platforms to become industry thought leaders.
While I realize not everyone has time to scroll through Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat for an hour each day, there are still ways to crush your social media game and build brand loyalty for your company.
Below, I’ve pulled together three tips on how to be the most social #girlboss around!
1. Be Yourself
Many of the most successful CEOs aren’t found shamelessly plugging their companies and brands; rather, they’re sharing their everyday lives. And that’s what their followers love!
Your audience wants to connect with you on a personal level, so why not show them some of your behind-the-scenes moments, warts and all? While forming human connections with your audience you’re also building brand loyalty for your company.
2. Be Engaging
Always respond to followers’ questions, inquiries, and ideas! Everything moves so fast in the land of social media, and it’s critical to be present and responsive, especially when it comes to your loyal supporters. Make a point to check your social platforms at least once a day if possible and get back to anyone who may have sent a question as soon as you can.
Be sure to also keep up with your own posts and reply to comments, whether positive or negative. Get in front of any conflicts before they escalate, and always interact with your fans. If you’re not an active member of your community, why should anyone else be?
3. Be Open
Your followers are there for you! More often than not it can be overwhelming being the boss and sometimes you just need a mindset course correct. Ask your audience for a dose of encouragement and advice every so often, rather than constantly dishing it out.
I can tell you from personal experience that your fans want to hear from YOU, not from some stuffy “brand voice.” They want to see that you’re human just like them! Don’t be afraid to throw out new ideas and see what your supporters come back with.
CEOs don’t have to spend hours and hours on the social media hamster wheel in order to be seen. The best ones simply create engaging and meaningful conversations within their own communities. By building your personal brand you’ll, in turn, be generating some extra juju and confidence in your professional brand!
Harnessing the power of social media for your business doesn’t have to be a chore. If you stay true to yourself, listen to your audience, and always show your human side then you’re off to a great start!
